Our Sustainability Goals reflect this vision by focusing on the organization on 100% Sustainable products, >90% Materials Management, >10% reduction in GHG emissions intensity, and >10% reduction in energy intensity. Our risk management and innovation processes both include primary and secondary research to monitor emerging regulatory and policy events throughout the Americas where we operate directly and also globally as regions such as Europe tend to be ahead of the Americas in regulatory endeavors related to climate change.
When our internal teams come across information or stories of a regulatory or policy nature that could impact Winpak positively or negatively in terms of climate change, our process calls for the information to be fed to the Director, Corporate Sustainability. Further evaluation of the information is conducted by Corporate Sustainability along with discussions with external resources, like trade associations Winpak is engaged with. Corporate Sustainability then provides an assessment internally to the Executive Committee (EC). The EC, along with the Director, Corporate Sustainability, discuss potential outcomes or impacts at its weekly meeting and debate possible actions to take. Actions may include influencing through trade associations, influencing through direct discussions with government officials, and/or written articles or papers supporting specific positions in line with our strategy. Based upon a course of action Winpak then continues to follow developments to determine any further actions or to see if current actions have an impact.
