###### Effective leadership and transparency play a critical role in achieving our climate goals, promoting business accountability, and catalysing positive climate action throughout our value chain.

The Board continues to have ultimate oversight of Pearson's climate change strategy and achievement of our targets. Sustainability forms part of the company's strategic non-financial KPIs, and our Chief Legal Officer is the Executive Member responsible for the development, monitoring and execution of Pearson's sustainability strategy. In addition, we have established operational management committees to communicate progress against climate-related issues and implement our climate transition plans.

Pearson will continue to report in line with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures and participate in the annual CDP disclosure process. Progress against our targets and a full set of environmental metrics aligned to GRI and SASB reporting standards can be found on pages 221-224 of the 2022 Annual report. We will also continue to seek external assurance from third parties to ensure our data is robust, balanced and complete.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Pearson has policies in place for ensuring that its activities are consistent with its climate strategy. External commentary relevant to climate change issues or contributions to external debate are signed-off by the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Government Relations. Contributions to formal consultations is also subject to sign-off by the SVP-Government Relations &/or the wider Responsible Business Leadership Council. The reputation and responsibility committee has oversight of Pearson's strategy to build and protect our brands and reviews issues that could have a significant impact on reputation. This committee has board input and is chaired by a Non-Executive Director. Similarly, our ESG risk management process identifies and assesses environmental and public policy risks across the company. Where a trade association does indirect work on climate change we would participate, sharing our knowledge and skills. An example of this the Publishers Association Sustainability Task Force, which was established in 2020 to set out the climate change ambition for the whole sector, with a view to setting reduction targets rather than as a lobbying platform.
