Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]SDC was established in 2012, and it was incorporated into the Korea Target Management System, a legal requirement for climate change in Korea, and started to report and manage our greenhouse gas emissions.
In order to achieve successful greenhouse gas reduction, we conducted climate change-related activities together with the Korea Display Industry Association(KDIA). We responded to climate change-related requests from the government together with KDIA, and we also communicated our opinions through KDIA to Korea government. These activities included regularly conducting a research meeting on reduction activities between KDIA and KDIA affiliated companies every year, and occasionally presenting opinions in accordance with the government's enactment and revision of laws. By reflecting the results of these regular and irregular activities in our climate change response strategy, we have been able to successfully achieve our greenhouse gas reduction goals so far.
As examples of activities, various opinions were presented during the first Phase of Korea ETS, such as confirming normal operation and the amount of reduction or exemption, and considering the fairness of distribution by industry and reduction rate. In 2020, we considered together a request to secure the quantity of RECs for the purchase of new and renewable energy, and a price setting plan to minimize the increase in electricity operating costs. In 2021, we published the 2050 Semiconductor/Display Carbon Neutrality Joint Statement, which we signed and endorsed.
In addition, SDC presidents served as the 3rd, 5th and 7th presidents of the Display Industry Association, and the most recent 7th president's term of office was from 2019 to 2021.
