Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Climate-related engagement surveys and other disclosures are completed at a Group-level by the Sustainability team, and data is sourced via the Group's financial consolidation system and directly from the Operating Companies. The use of a single data source and single contact point for external reporting ensures that consistency is applied.
The Group General Counsel (GGC), who is responsible for climate-related policy and risks and opportunities reviews key surveys and disclosures, including commitments relating to climate change, and is a member of the plc Board so is aware of the Board's strategy and approach.
Senior leadership-level engagement with NGOs and other groups on behalf of Halma plc is generally carried out by Executive Board-level management who are both involved in sustainability and climate-related strategy and regularly appraised of these developments at an operational and Board level. In FY20, our CFO, who was responsible for sustainability at the time, led engagement with the UK's Net Zero MP.
Our Operating Companies' management teams are experts and leaders in their fields and niche markets, and therefore may carry out engagement with NGOs, regulators, and other groups from time to time. This engagement may cover issues around climate change. In general, these individuals are representing their own decentralised brands/companies around issues specific to their niche markets and products. Engagement with these Operating Company leadership teams as outlined above helps reduce the risk that these activities are not carried out in line with Halma's overall climate strategy.
