The Group has a transparent, structured Climate Strategy. It intends to draw on this strategy to act as a beacon
in the infrastructure industry supporting its clients in their journey to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The strategy has three priority areas of intervention: 1) Business mix – Focus on infrastructure projects that contribute to the mitigation and/or adaptation to cliamate change; 2) Decarbonization of work sites; 3) Decarbonization of works.
Moreover, in 2021, Webuild rolled out the 2021-2023 ESG Plan which includes various climate change programmes and targets, tied to the long-term incentive plan (the 2020-2022 LTI plan) introduced in 2020, which also includes a specific GHG emissions intensity reduction objective (scope 1&2). At the end of the year, the board of directors approved the Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework which formalises the inclusion of climate criteria in the Group's funding strategy. It defines the guidelines the Company is committed to when issuing new financial instruments linked to specific carbon intensity objectives.
Moreover, we are ISO 14001 certified, so that we have to take into account direct and indirect impacts. Since pre-bid phase we agree with our potential business partner (throughout a dedicated agreement) our policies and approach for environmental management (climate change topics included). During the construction phase our subcontractors carry out their activities respecting and implementing of our Environmental Management System, as agreed in the contract; the subcontractors are also involved in our environmental meetings and attends specific environmental training courses; moreover they periodically give us data for the environmental performance evaluation. In addition, suppliers are required to formally accept the Code of Ethics, the Anti-corruption Model and, starting from 2020, the Suppliers Code of Conduct, which are integral parts of the contract.
