City Bank has established a comprehensive sustainability governance framework, stating that “all environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies and strategies undergo a thorough approval process” overseen by the Board Risk Management Committee with final board approval, that its Sustainable Finance Committee “monitors and evaluates the functions of the Sustainable Finance Unit,” and that an Emission Reduction Steering Committee “coordinates and oversees carbon footprint measurement and emission reduction-related activities.” However, we found no evidence of any internal processes, policies, or oversight structures specific to the governance of lobbying activities—direct or indirect—nor any disclosure of an individual or formal body responsible for reviewing or aligning lobbying efforts with the bank’s climate or policy goals.
