Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Copa Airlines is committed with environmental sustainability, which is why Copa is leading the way toward Net-Zero by 2050 by reducing its carbon footprint and its effects on climate change.
Copa is aware that achieving its goals requires commitment and alignment with governments, regulators and industry suppliers in terms of access, supply and availability of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), as well as investment in new aviation technologies and high-quality carbon offset projects that will allow us to move closer to neutrality.
With this goal in mind, Copa has developed a plan with short, medium and long term objectives with actions focused on 4 fundamental pillars, which will allow Copa to take firm and decisive steps towards a more responsible operation.
- Efficiency in the use of fuel and fleet.
- Use of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) and carbon offsetting.
- Onboard waste management and use of environmentally friendly products.
- Appropriate use of water and renewable energies.
Progress on Copa's sustainability strategy is reviewed in its sustainability committee, which is led by its CEO and includes the participation of other high-level executives. In this way, decision-makers are involved and progress is ensured.
