Direct Lobbying Transparency
Overall Assessment Comment Score
None Adani Green Energy Ltd provides almost no concrete information about its climate-related lobbying. Apart from stating that it will "engage actively in climate change advocacy and the shaping of regulations," the company does not name a single climate policy, law or regulation it has sought to influence, does not describe the methods or intermediaries it uses beyond vague references to trade associations, and does not explain what specific legislative or regulatory changes it wants to achieve. As a result, stakeholders are left without any meaningful insight into which policies the company targets, how it approaches policymakers, or what outcomes it pursues. 0
Lobbying Governance
Overall Assessment Comment Score
Limited Adani Green Energy’s parent company has established a “Policy on Responsible Advocacy” that seeks to “achieve total compliance with all applicable regulations pertaining to advocacy activities” and emphasises “transparency, accountability, strong corporate governance standards and ethical guiding principles in all advocacy interactions,” requiring “implement[ation of] record management tools to record all advocacy interactions,” “implement grievance redressal mechanisms,” and periodic policy review (“the policy shall be reviewed periodically for its appropriateness and updated as necessary”). The policy states that “AGEL will utilise the trade and Industry chambers and associations … to undertake such advocacy policy” and the company confirms a “public commitment … in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.” However, we found no evidence of a named individual or board-level body responsible for overseeing lobbying or any defined procedure to align either direct or indirect lobbying activities with its climate objectives. 1
