McCormick & Co Inc/MD’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee “reviews the Company’s political contributions, related strategies and the Company’s Political Activity Policy,” indicating some oversight of its political engagement, and its PLP Governance structure assigns a “PLP Governing Council” as the body “responsible for integrating the PLP strategy with overall business strategy, including identification and approval of initiatives,” supported by a “global database for all our PLP goals” and a “Roadmap Report” to track climate-related projects. The company also affirmatively responded “Yes” when asked if it has “a public commitment or position statement to conduct your engagement activities in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.” However, we found no evidence of any formal process to align direct or indirect lobbying with its climate strategy, no disclosure of how lobbying activities are monitored or managed, and no named individual or body specifically tasked with oversight of climate-related lobbying.
