Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]JTEKT is involved in public policy mainly through industry associations (KEIDANREN - Japan Business Federation, Japan Auto Parts Industries Association, The Japan Bearing Industry Association, Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association).
When the industry associations make decisions on public policy proposals, decision-making meetings are held by the industry associations, and if there is a significant deviation from JTEKT's climate change strategy, the company tries to align its views in the process of expressing its opinions at the meetings.
In addition, before decision-making meetings of the industry associations, subordinate advisory meetings are held to examine the topics to be discussed.
JTEKT is a member of both the decision-making meetings and the subordinate advisory meetings. Therefore, at the stage when the issues are being discussed at the advisory meetings, JTEKT discusses them internally with the relevant departments in advance to confirm alignment with JTEKT's strategies, and if necessary, our Council for Enhancement of Corporate Value deliberates on the issues and the company makes comments at the advisory meetings.
