In 2024, we created a new position, the Director for Low-carbon Regulation and Advocacy, to centralize our advocacy efforts, who reports to the Senior Vice President, Low Carbon Solutions. Regionally, any lobbying activities are overseen by the managing directors of our manufacturing regions, each of whom reports to a member of the executive leadership team. We comply with lobbying legislation and reporting requirements in the jurisdictions in which we operate. [...] To support industry positions and stay informed of policy developments, we maintain membership in industry associations such as the Methanol Institute, the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association and the International Methanol Producers and Consumers Association (IMPCA). Two Methanex employees are current board members of the Methanol Institute, an industry association that acts as the voice of the global methanol industry. Through our representation, we provide feedback on proposed policies, advocate for existing methanol demand, and promote the growth of emerging energy demand. [...] While we may have memberships or relationships with industry organizations or groups that may be involved in political advocacy, at Methanex, we are politically agnostic and do not favour any political party, group, or individual and we do not use company funds to support political candidates or parties, directly or indirectly.

Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]We have established two internal leadership teams with responsibilities for updating our strategy related to Methanex's GHG emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy. One team will evaluate emissions reduction opportunities, technologies and strategies in our manufacturing operations. A second team will assess potential market-related impacts of a transition to a low-carbon economy and opportunities for low-carbon and green methanol.
To ensure consistency in our climate change strategy across Methanex, our Responsible Care and sustainability practices employ a structured approach that starts with clear organizational accountability. There are multiple teams within Methanex that have responsibility for GHG management and stakeholder engagement regarding environmental matters. These include the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team, Global Environmental Excellence Team and the Global Communications teams, which includes public and governmental affairs. These teams consist of Responsible Care, technical and communications experts from each manufacturing region, as well as the company's headquarters, and are responsible for the development and consistent deployment of global Responsible Care policies and strategies, including GHG management. In order to ensure information is shared globally in a timely basis, each global team has regular calls together to align practices and share updates on local and global activities.
Our Global Integrated Management System (GIMS) further guides us in implementing consistent GHG management strategies and practices across all teams in the company.
