From a macro perspective, climate change policies are voiced through our sustainability strategy (i.e., Simon thrives to be a leader in sustainability and maximize performance in the three key areas of economic, environment, and social sustainability along with our GHG emission reduction goals) as well as underlined in the company's corporate values including being a "responsible corporate citizen†.
The Director of Sustainability provides regular updates to executives on all engagements including those with trade associations such National Association for Real Estate investment trust (NAREIT) as the Director of Sustainability is an active participant in NAREIT's Real Estate Sustainability Council (RESC). The Director of Sustainability reports to the General Counsel on a weekly basis as well as to the Environmental Social Governance Executive Committee. More than half of the ESG EC members are executives or C-Suite members and all ESG EC members work on sustainability projects on a regular basis, who represent and carry oversight of their various departments.
