Komatsu views climate change as an important management issue, and targets for combating climate change have been incorporated into its business strategies. Discussions regarding climate change are held at meetings of the Sustainability Promotion Committee and the Risk Management Committee, and these committees make suggestions to the Strategy Review Committee and report to the Board of Directors, thereby furnishing a system of appropriate oversight. Meanwhile, the Executive Meeting fulfills the function of managing progress toward targets. Describe the process(es) your organization has in place to ensure that your engagement activities are consistent with your overall climate change strategy[…]Komatsu is a member of the trade association called "Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association" (CEMA) and our CEO is in charge of vice chairman of CEMA.
CEMA is in a position to comment and cooperate with the government in deciding policies and regulations on construction machinery.
For example, CEMA cooperated to enact the Certification of Construction Machinery Achieving Fuel Efficiency Standards of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism by providing various data about construction machinery.
