Charles River Laboratories' climate change strategy (which is part of the company's broader sustainability strategy) includes efficient means to design, construct, and operate its specialized facilities and this has recently been formalized in the company's Sustainable Design program which is supported by the company's $5 million Annual Sustainability Capital Fund. Charles River Laboratories therefore has a vested interests in influencing public policies that align with its climate change/GHG reduction strategy.
In addition, Charles River Laboratories is a member of the Biopharma EHS&S Forum which is a member driven organization that drives improved EHS&S performance amongst leading BioPharma companies. Sustainability and GHG reduction strategies are frequent topics of discussion and the subject of many presentations. Individually some of Charles River Laboratories key EHS&S Leaders are members of the National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM). At NAEM, sustainability and GHG reduction strategies are also frequent topics of discussion and the subject of many presentations.
Charles River also recently joined the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), which is a group of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies who share a vision of better social, health, safety, and environmental outcomes in the communities where we buy. PSCI members can share knowledge and expertise, across our industry, to drive complex, global change more effectively than any one organization alone. PSCI companies have joined forces to promote responsible supply chain management and better business conditions across the industry.
